Ending:  Section P5 - Above Road 40N45

Noisy night at Castle Crags State Park last night. Cars with bright headlights kept endlessly circling the campground. Got a late start & consequently did the hot 4,600-foot climb in the heat of the day. It was far & away the hottest day of the entire trip but had a magnificent vista of Castle Crags & Mt. Shasta.

Caught up to TYVEK. He is suffering from giardia symptoms & has decided to try some herbal remedies rather then the proven course of antibiotics. Good luck.

I have been successfully hiking without the guidebook but could have used it this evening. Out of water I reached a North-South road & the data book (not the guidebook) said to go East on the road for water. East?

Currently camped on a high ridge with no water. I am beyond parched & nursing the last mouthfuls...
