There have been several moments on this trip where I would have happily traded my 1st born child for a cold soft drink on ice. Today was one of them.

Got a hitch from the very 1st car I saw on Highway 178. They dropped me off at the Chevron station in Onyx. Actually, the Chevron station IS Onyx.

Nice 1st lunch of a microwave burrito, bag of chips, string cheese, & a 40 oz. Dr. Pepper- ON ICE. Went back in for a huge chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. Made a final trip in to get the 2 days of food I would need for the 50 miles to Kennedy Meadows.

Got another easy hitch back to Walker Pass to find Pete & Jason just getting there. We hiked out together & are now camped at Joshua Tree Spring, braving the fierce mosquitos…
