A 2,200-foot climb to begin the day. Normally not something to look forward to, but when the destination is the incomparable beauty of the Escondido Ridge, something to relish.

The Ridge is a relatively flat "bench" near the top of a 6,000-foot mountain. Lush green pines, deep blue tarns, & huge fields of flaming red, late season blueberries. Had coffee at a beautiful tarn in a secluded cirque.

Finished the day with another big climb up to Cathedral Pass. Continued on for several miles before camping at the junction of 2 seasonal creeks...
