Ending:  Section E7 - Elk Lake Campground

September 1st. Starting to look & feel like fall - the leaves are starting to turn and there is a slight chill in the air. Sat by the waters edge for an hour this morning, enjoying a cup of coffee, listening to the wind & reflecting on the quickly approaching end of this journey.

Decided to hike the 28 miles to Elk Cove. Instead of slowing down & staying on the PCT I am going to climb the 10,358-foot South Sister.

Camped for free at the Elk Cove campground (cool campground hosts). Met Shane, an AWESOME day hiker out for the weekend. She has climbed the South Sister twice & we sat around the campfire drinking beer and plotting my course late into the night. She even gave me a couple of maps. Thanks - I owe you dinner in Eugene…
