Crater Lake is one of those places that can't adequately be described by words or pictures. You have to see it in person. My mind had difficulty comprehending the enormity of scale: how can anything be that big & blue.

Walked the alternate route around the rim. Better scenery then the official route but it includes a 25-mile waterless stretch. I bought an extra 1-liter water bottle at the Rim Village, pushing my capacity to 5 liters.

Hiked around Mt. Thielsen late in the afternoon. Looked like a fun climb but I was running low on water & the sun was going down.

Currently camped at Thielsen Creek with Hobbles. I had been a day or 2 behind him for the entire trip. 30+ miles today: wasn't I supposed to slow down…
